Oof.. this expansion is a real stinker. It's obvious that the scenario writers were trying to be creative and push the limits of what Betrayal can do. Unfortunately, this results in seemingly every scenario having some overwrought "gimmick" that shows off the writer's cleverness, but isn't actually fun to play. The base game had a few dud scenarios too, but I've now played maybe 10 of the expansion's 50 scenarios, and every single one of them has been slow, dull and frustrating. (Maybe the other 40 scenarios are great, but after 10 unsatisfying plays, how many more chances am I expected to give it?) Then we randomly got a base game scenario and it was like a breath of fresh air - I suddenly remembered why I love this game! Seriously considering just pulling the expansion back out.

The expansion to Betrayal at House on the Hill. For those hoping that this expansion would address some of the many issues that Betrayal players have come across, we're stuck with them. Widow's Walk (the name being a nod to the youtube based series Table Top's host Wil Wheaton) simply adds more content and haunts to Betrayal and only helps to address and define a few key points of the game. If you own the 2004 version of Betrayal and want to experience more rooms, another floor to the house, more items, and more questionable haunts by questionable people then I would say to pick up a copy. However, if Betrayal is a game that only occasionally gets played then I would only recommend picking up the "Betrayal at House on The Hill Upgrade Kit", which adds another set of dice and new character trackers with dials instead of the slider pieces that come with the original game. My recommendation: If you want more and more variety then check it out, but if it's a game that sees very little table time, pass on it.

Adding another floor was nice, the dumbwaiter mechanic seems to make getting around way too easy. It's double-edged; you need more maneuverability with the new floor added, but now there never seems to be that sense of "I'm trapped!", which really added to the atmosphere in the base game.
