Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

A very exciting scenario with an epic battle that you can really feel evolving as the scenario develops. Definitely one I'm looking forward to playing again.

The Lord of the Rings LCG is so good I can't really believe FFG made this (well, after seeing the huge amount of faqs and clarifications I actually believe it was made by them...). The second cycle of expansions adds more awesomeness in form of new heroes, cards for the decks, and new quests. Shadow and Flame brings some new very useful player cards, and the new powerhouse hero Elrond, but it is first and foremost the epic, awesome conclusion of the Dwarrowdelf cycle: an upstream struggle against the most fearsome enemy ever! Could the Balrog be beaten?

We won even though I lost Gloin in the setup phase of the game. Khazad dum was my favorite part of the trilogy, so I love all this good underground action here. You get to face the deep evil, named Durin's Bane here, once again.
