Co-operative play encourages or requires players to work together to beat the game.
Cooperative Play
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.

Still an odd one out. It just feels like all the (important) decision are made during character creation ad during the game you just chuck dice with insufficient mitigation. Even when speccing your talents to do just so. That being said, all plays were solo simulating 2p. Perhaps it would be better at 4p and the easier difficulty where you get an extra talent? But then you get more monsters and more party tests so more chucking again... Dunno. Also, the rulebook for Sewers recommends "just get playing straight away" with the character classes from the Caves set. Major oversight. Is a super unnecessary hurdle for learning the game.

Not my style of dungeon crawl. The randomly generated dungeons get repetitive quickly and lead to situations where all agency is removed from the players and you just keep ramming yourself into the opposing card hoping the rolls go your way to proceed. The combat lacks any kind of tactical depth - just line up and start rolling. The monsters all feel the same and offer little excitement. The game feels on rails with no real decisions or opportunities for clever play. "Who has the highest [insert stat here]? OK, you roll." I appreciate the focus on the journey of adventuring and not just combat, but because the adventure is randomly generated it feels aimless.

Dungeon crawl with RPG elements with a wonderful vibe about it. This is not super powered heroes going into caves or sewers to looks for masses of treasure and super-bosses ... but a group of novices fighting for scraps to help there people. I can't wait to see future installments to watch these characters grow.
