Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Deck building/Pool building refers to a collection of related mechanisms. Players have a personal pool, or collection, of cards or tokens, that provide different actions and/or resources. A subset of those cards/tokens are randomly drawn each turn.
Deck / Pool Building
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

It works and is quick and fairly brain burning in a pretty concentrated and maybe slightly pressurised way. It's basically a contract making and engine building game. I'd be happy to play it, but it's also maybe a little generic and I think some of the cards are probably quite over-powered. I'd rather play something which has a few more varied strategies in it.

I enjoyed this, although I simply do not understand engine-building games at all. I do like that there are timing and anticipation elements (will anyone be able to take that order card, or can I wait another turn?), and you can play the table to relatively good effect. I'd gladly play again, but I would not own because, well, I really have no idea what happened or why I did as well as I did.

Great game, but I haven't subscribed to the whole splendor-killer nonsense, it's a fast game and the challenge to make an efficient engine in the short amount of time is great, the game speeds up a lot but you can always see the ending coming, and it seems well balanced. great component quality and gorgeous with he playmat. It's a great gateway. All that said I still prefer Splendor, but the whole trilogy thing is really interesting and I can't wait to see where it's going.
