A great expansion, adds more beautiful artwork some cool new resources, and some cool new additional special tiles, oh and did I mention the 5 tower castles!! If you enjoy the base game, I would highly recommend picking this up.

The more players, the more unlikely to draw territory cards that connect. Thus, the author had to implement a mechanic to compensate for this. The solution was to upgrade the value of luxury resources including plenty of new cloud resources. This shifts the main objective from building fiefs with maximum number of resources and towers in the base game to just collecting as many as possible luxury/cloud resources (and corresponding scrolls) playing with the expansion. While the goal of the base game is hard to achieve for the random nature of card draws, it creates tension and feels satisfying if long awaited territories can be occupied. Now, just collecting resources from an oversupply does not feel that rewarding. In my opinion, the expansion tries it's best to implement a fifth player but for the cost of the most fun and satisfying part of the game: building great fiefs.

Bunny Kingdom: In the Sky changes up the focus to encourage multiple fiefs that are smaller in size. All the new scoring mechanisms (carrotadels, districts, & coins) do quite well adding avenues without bogging down the fluid core game. The grid system on the cloud board is a bit odd, but the territory arrangement makes it very interesting. The expansion changes up subtler strategic approaches dramatically. Unfortunately, the added board requires a bit of a specific setup, changing a remarkably quick set up and play to just a "sorta" set up and play. For immediate games like this, doubling the setup time is far more detrimental than increasing a game with an already long setup. In the Sky is the type of expansion that both enables the paths of the base game while offering new opportunities for success. It is more Bunny Kingdom, for sure, but there are also more reasons to choose actions. It is an "always use" expansions, which is fortunate, because it is very difficult to separate the cards from the base game.
