if you think you like Aliens or already have it, this expansion is a strong recommendation. More exciting missions, more variation and the alien queen! Absolutely love it!

Hmm call me cynical but this expansion (and ultimate badass) feels like it should have been part of the game all along and not parceled out for a few coins more Its clear this was not designed by anyone who plays modern games as it feels very dated. Its is incredibly simple. Alien AI is very linear and LoS rules even simpler still, almost to the point of redundancy. It is strange there is no acid splash damage as even I know the xenomorphs are supposed to have acid for blood, but killing them (which is far to easy btw) at distance or close range is exactly the same. You can only take reactive shots when the aliens step right next to you, removing virtually all clever positioning and tactical gameplay. The endurance deck is a nice idea, but ultimately is simply a way to slow down gameplay by forcing players to take the 'rest' action. Its fiddly and adds nothing. I quite like the aim dial mechanic as the more you fire in a turn the less time you spend aiming thus the 'difficulty' of the shot is increased and the miniatures are really nice - hubby assembled them well- but why oh why make minatures bigger than the square you are going to have them stand in- specifically the alien tails which jut out from behind the mini and continually get tangled together, especially as the aliens tend to clump together thanks to the simple AI. Sold with base game and ultimate badass in 2022

An essential component for the core game, this expansion brings quite a few additions to heighten the gameplay experience. Firstly, this expansion brings the option for a player to take on the role of the alien hive, with their own set of cards and skills. Secondly, this expands the campaign missions of the core game with additional tiles, making the operation more elaborate and spreading the alien spawn points wider across the board. It also adds brand new campaign missions such as the APC escape from the atmosphere processor, Ripley’s rescue of Newt from the hive and the final showdown with the queen aboard the Sulaco. New bug hunt missions are added as well. In terms of characters, you get Bishop in two versions, and two versions of Ripley, including her iconic power loader layout which can be used by any player. You also get the terrifying alien queen to face off against. All in all, this expansion enriches the original core game and made my gameplay experience a 10.
