Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.
Variable Player Powers
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

This expansion made TM my favorite game. It added the one thing I was missing in the game - the ability to complete my mechanism. Usually I get blocked easily, even if it wasn't intentionally. Now I can create a resource engine strategy, create my engine at the first rounds (with prelude) and try various cool card synergy mechanisms. The game itself is still the same, it is still highly competative. you just have a chance to get things done faster. The rythem is better. For myself, it makes me less AP as I don't need to change my plans too much and can play immediately as my turn arrives. The colonies themselves are thematically fitting and interesting, with a wonderful ''finally a reason to invest in energy!'' purchase mechanism and still are not mandatory for winning the game.

This is one of the better expansions. I like having the additional possibilities to boost my resources that this expansion provides.

Nice expansion providing some additional ways of scoring points by trading/buying goods. I found it working much better in a 5-player game than 3-player one, as the choice of planets/moons to colonise was much wider. What I find not so great is the fact that you can basically monopolise one planet so that it's not worth for other players to trade with it or colonise it.
