Pictures is a quick-playing family game with very simple rules. Form the image on your secret picture card with one set of components, either shoelaces, color cubes, icon cards, sticks and stones or building blocks in such a way that the other players guess what image you have pictured:
Pull out a marker from the bag that determines your secret picture card.
Then form that image with your components in such a way that it is recognizable.
And finally guess what image each other player has pictured.
The players get points for correctly guessing other players images and for other players guessing their image. The most points wins!

Very sharp, clean design targeted for the light party crowd. A game where the obvious isn't always obvious. Well done.

5 plays: What a well done, compact, creative, fun group game. It's in the Pictionary family, and similar to LEGO Creationary and the clay component of Cranium. The big difference is that there are five sets of components, from sticks and stones, to shoelaces, to cards with icons; whichever set you have, that's what you have to build your tableau from. The components are very well designed, and high quality. The creativity is limited, since you make your tableaus only to resemble other photographs, rather than more general concepts (as in Pictionary out Creationary). But the variety of materials makes up for this. Seeing the same scene recreated with different materials is wonderful, and the potential for various types of repetition and variation is surprisingly rich. Thanks to the simultaneous play, it plays really fast -- now that we have the hang of it, it takes about 30 minutes. Most importantly, kids ask to play it -- even kids who aren't into boardgames. It's not intimidating, and always feels appealing. For my family, it's become one of the 5 or so absolutely indispensable games, along with Patchwork, Jaipur, and Sushi Go. Great for all ages, from maybe 4 to 104 :) After 10 plays or so, it does start to feel a bit repetitious, however. Lightness (1)-Heaviness (5) rating: 1

Played it 5 players and I liked it somewhat. Was surprisingly funny/entertaining. Don't know about the longterm fun... because it had the right gamelenght. We played a bit longer. Just 1 or 2 players or 1 round more and this round felt not that fun anymore. Then it was enough. I think it's good from time to time and just for 1 game.
