Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

I loved the first box. This set is too hard. The scenario ratings are not on the same scale as the last set and I would have to min/max the play deck and hero combos and leave behind a bunch of the new flavor cards that makes the set what it is just so I can say I won. I will have to re-balance all the new scenarios to make them fun.

First expansion and cycle for the game. We are moving from the Mirkwood forest scenes into the depths of the Dwarven mines of Moria. Both the deluxe box and the cycle offer a good variety of player cards with some focus on the Dwarf archetype for players to explore. The 9 quests are really well done. Some will feel easier than others but the challenge is there. There are at least two big boss battles in this cycle, one with the Watcher and the highlight with Balrog in the end of the story. Good times with some excellent Dwarf lore.
