A Game of Thrones (Second Edition): Wolves of the North
Expansion of:
A Game of Thrones: The Card Game (Second Edition)
60m - 120m
2 - 4 Players
Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.
Simultaneous Action Selection
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Can't go wrong here. An excellent start to the deluxe expansions for this game, giving House Stark plenty of new toys to play with, with something nice for every other house as well.

NOTE : I play this together with basic game - games using this expansion are reported there. Bought: 2016-12-02, 569 Kč (around 23$)

Follow-up review for the first (Westeros) cycle as well as the first big-box (Wolves of the North) expansion: 1. First cycle did a good job fleshing out multiple themes introduced in the Core Set. 2. Some of the weak Core Set factions got some much-needed boost, especially Stark and Martell. 3. Tyrell and Nights Watch are still bottom-tier, but 6 out of 8 (semi-)competitive factions is good. 4. Cycle introduced many strong new 7-costers and First Snow of Winter, resulting in the so-called "big-character" meta. A true reset (Valar Morghulis) is needed to bring back some balance in the cost-curves.
