A Game of Thrones (Second Edition): Lions of Casterly Rock
Expansion of:
A Game of Thrones: The Card Game (Second Edition)
60m - 120m
2 - 4 Players
Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
The simultaneous action selection mechanic lets players secretly choose their actions. After they are revealed, the actions resolve following the rule-set of the game.
Simultaneous Action Selection
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Follow-up review for the second (War of the Five Kings) cycle as well as the second big-box (Lions of Casterly Rock) expansion: 1. The second cycle started off slow, with a couple of dud packs, but gained traction around pack 3 with some strong cards. 2. Kings were introduced, which were mostly underpowered versions of core set characters (with some important exceptions, i.e. Joffrey & Renly), and seasons agendas, which are decent options but not terribly since they limit deckbuilding. 3. The Lannister box brought the great Rains of Castamere and did a good job of not improving the tier 1 Lannisters but instead diversified the faction. 4.Finally, Valar Morghulis was released in pack 4 and has had a positive effect on the meta, without being everywhere like in first edition.

The second edition of A Game of Thrones LCG is an awesome reimplementation of a great card game. It has cleaner rules, and the core set itself is probably the best in the LCG world. The second deluxe expansion is dedicated to House Lannister, definitely the already the strongest faction BEFORE the release of this set. Anyway, the Lions get a lot of new cards, but every other house gets a couple and some are probably quite strong. Is that enough not to tip the balance of the game even more towards the Lannister? The Lions receive a lot of good stuff. Almost every main character gets a second version (will those be able to compete with their core set counterparts? Many won't...), and it seems there is a couple of themes developed: hand discard and Clansmen...

Since BGG makes it difficult to differentiate between games owned and expansions owned, I mark them owned here instead of marking them owned in the status tracker. Owned
