Perhaps the best expansion from a PvE perspective. Cataclysm has some even better zones, but Northrend started the ball rolling. Grizzly Hills is a beautiful zone with beautiful music. So relaxing.

Lots of missed potential. Many good things happening to WoW in this era, and many bad things as well. Expansion promised living war with instancing the world, but this was mainly missed out, it still felt very static. Northrend was interesting place to explore and deathknights were also implemented quite nicely (especially their starting area). This was also the era that I really began to raid. Instances were lot worse than their counterparts in Burning Crusade. You could run them in 15 minutes, there wasn't any challenge in them even in heroic mode and so they weren't any fun. And this was probably the reason I could start raiding as even one butterfinger like me could get good enough gear to beat the living legends hell out of Azeroth. And this is one of the main gripes for me in the game. Blizzard told epic tragic tales in Warcraft III and in the lore they sound good, but then in WoW everything is brutalized into teenage power fantasies. But still the game itself is very enjoyable.

Easily the best expansion so far! The world design is really great! I actually want to spend time there. The music is great. All the dungeons are great (with the exception of the Occulus). All but one of the zones are amazing and unique (well, even the other one is unique, but it's certainly not amazing). The theme and story of the expansion is great. Just everything is great! I can only hope that someday they do to Northrend what Warlords does to Outland (revisit it, that is, not give it a 180 degree makeover).
