Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Best Marvel game I have played. Perfect mix of simple gameplay with enough details in the rules/character cards to make the individual characters feel distinctive and true to the comic books. Now with the X-men coming I am totally stoked.

not into painting or assembly, but when I can pick up a pre-painted, pre-assembled box like I did, I'm all in. so fun.

Enjoyable mini skirmish game with a charming aesthetic (particularly in terms of the playmat & terrain). Design of characters/abilities was nicely thematic and models were cool. Objectives we played with were nice and encouraged healthy, dynamic gameplay. My only complaint is how heavily dice rolling decides outcomes. Would love to see less RNG and more luck mitigation mechanics. Gaining energy when taking damage is a wonderfully elegant comeback mechanic. Game seriously emphasizes "throwing" terrain and characters. Which is interesting and unique among tabletop mini games. Like all games of this type, suffers from a lack of a casual format (e.g. draft?) as well as a high cognitive overhead owing to densely thematic design of all character + objectives (tons to remember & keep track of). I loved seeing the characters from their heyday when I grew up with them. At the same time, I feel "Marvel Fatigue" due to the movies and their saturation of pop-culture. Maybe this could be better described as "Disney Fatigue" because what really has massively bored me with capeshit movies over the past 10 years is just how "samey" generic and safe they all feel after a while (with a few standouts, like Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor Ragnarok, which even then have a familiar feel to them...). I guess what I'm saying is the theme is neutral for me, despite loving it from my childhood, the characters have lost a lot of the luster for me owing to Disney Fatigue.
