This is not an actual rating. This is on a scale of 1 to 5, about how much I am eager to play it for the first time. TIME Story Season 2

I was expecting more. Boring, with uninteresting choices. I am just about ready to completely give up on the system. The lasting power from the Asylum Project, I fear, is long fading.

The new system is definitely an improvement, getting rid of unnecessary mechanics and components, but the game has its own problems. I especially hated rolling a die to determine the travel cost, which is now fixed. The annoying reset when you failed (and it was almost impossible to win in the first attempt) is also gone. However, this was incorporated somewhat into the story, which is even worse. I can't say more without spoilers, but it ruined an already not great experience. Combat is boring, long and random. You can guarantee a success by spending enough crystals, but the stupid rule that gives a better reward if you get the exact test value irks me. Even if you can sometimes base your guess on previously revealed modifier cards, it's still basically random. The strengths of a game like this are supposedly the story and art. The art, albeit not my favorite style, is pretty good, with some beautiful and detailed scenery. The story, on the other hand, I found dull for the most part, even though I really like this kind of setting. Worse, it doesn't really make a difference whether you solve the final (only) puzzle or not, and you get the exact same epilogue relating to some grand story arch engulfing the whole series.
