The Campaign/Battle Card Driven mechanic is a relatively recent development in war games that focuses the players' actions on cards they have in their hand. The very basic idea is that performing a single action uses a single card. Games where cards are used to determine the outcome of battles do not use this mechanic.

Massive life long Resident Evil from back in 1995. This game was a dream come true for me, would give it a solid 10 all except for the fact that the actual components are on the cheaper/lower budget side Vs the actual retail price for these boxes, and also the very dark colourization of tiles/tokens, too dark to really appreciated the, to me, iconic locales. Maybe Ive been spoilt in recent years by companies like FFG who knows? Gameplay wise, the rule/scenario books are solid and very well done, the generic shape/look of tiles at first I felt were uber bad, but after playing and running through half the game in one sitting with a mate, I realised the actual gameplay and setup really shines when you can just look at the map and think, oh- thats 1 large room and 3 long strips, grab them from the side and smack down. Combat/ruleset, although simple is deceptively deep when you take into account the 'Tension' cards and enemy reactions triggering constantly that it becomes clear that most of the time 3 dice will sort every resolution in seconds. Love this game, Ive played it with my 8 year old, my mates, and hopefully my partner will jump in soon. Ordered all the extras to beef up the campaign too with unlockable characters and weapons. This game play exactly like the old skool Playstation game, every scenario I was like oo thats the office, that's the Licker hallway and had serious nostalgia for the maps. Cant wait to get the true ending.

Final Thoughts – Ok the elephant in the room, the component quality. Overall the component quality of this game is just terrible. It really makes me think that the developer was looking to make a quick buck by nabbing up a well-known license and charging a super premium price with really low quality components to make as much profit as possible. I mean that’s the vibe I get hands down as the gameplay is just outstanding. They have the foundation of an amazing game here with the gameplay and dropped the ball significantly on the component quality. Now that said, I still LOVE this game and even though the game is ranked super low on quality, I rank it super high on gameplay and to me that is what matters most. Good game. The pieces (doors, items, walls) are very dark and hard to see, but I had seperatley bought 3D printed elements to go with the game so was not a problem for me - I would rate the game higher if it was not for this issue. Does require a lot of set-up time, though i like how you 'build' the board for each scenario. The mechanic of rolling a dice to see which enemies spawn in a room you enter is great for adding some variety and tension to the game. Would recommend to others, however, found some of the rules need clarifying and had to use Google to explain some parts
