Deck building/Pool building refers to a collection of related mechanisms. Players have a personal pool, or collection, of cards or tokens, that provide different actions and/or resources. A subset of those cards/tokens are randomly drawn each turn.
Deck / Pool Building
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

The Nue
Hardly terrible, there's certainly far worse games out there... it's just there are better ones too. The game has a fun feeling with it's entertaining art but doesn't really implement it's theme much, it almost borders on abstract... the "scenarios" really just amount to alternate terrain setup more or less, so don't expect gameplay to vary all that much...I'd say think of it like adding a deckbuilder element to Risk or something. On that topic, that would be my biggest gripe: Strategic imbalance. In my experience, aggression is clearly superior as a "winning strategy" to a point doing anything else is foolish... if you're spending your actions building infrastructure, you should be aware someone building and positioning for martial clout is just gonna take it from you... In particular, you need to buy every dual dice card that comes out and avoid blue die cards at all costs... After 5 turns or so, if one player has been picking up more "aggressive" gang members than everyone else, they'll just steamroll the board and all the watchtowers in the world won't stop them. While the gameplay rewards good strategy, planning, and tactics, the narrow nature of what CONSTITUTES a good strategy makes this game a lot less than it could have been... I'll also note that while attractive/amusing, the choice to make almost everything in the game some variations of neon pink, purple, and blue makes it so it's easy to miss components when glancing on the board, which is sub-ideal. There's some really nice aspects this game has going for it, and the core gameplay remains serviceable, but flaws in execution regulate it to "There're better games out there" even if it's still ok for a good time

The theme is great. ....alas... the game is way too slow and static... Just nowhere near enough going on to be interesting. Some nice ideas but a poor game overall... Shame as it looks great,

Solid game with some really fantastic elements (streamlined deck building, various actions, multi-use cards, quick and exciting combat). What really derails this game is that it's too streamlined at certain points, and it's simultaneously too long for what it offers. This should be a 60-90 minute game but it stretches to 120 and drags on.
