This mechanic requires you to place a bid, usually monetary, on items in an auction of goods in order to enhance your position in the game. These goods allow players future actions or improve a position. The auction consists of taking turns placing bids on a given item until one winner is established, allowing the winner to take control of the item being bid on. Usually there is a game rule that helps drop the price of the items being bid on if no players are interested in the item at its current price.
Auction/Bidding
Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Deck building/Pool building refers to a collection of related mechanisms. Players have a personal pool, or collection, of cards or tokens, that provide different actions and/or resources. A subset of those cards/tokens are randomly drawn each turn.
Deck / Pool Building
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

I heard good things about how EoH does deck building, and while it was alright, it didn't set it self apart from other deck builders I like better. Sam Healy does a great review for this game and sums up the interesting mechanics, but the game as a whole didn't keep my attention.

Ok, played this enough now to feel pretty good about commenting! Hopefully, I will have time to write a full review, but the basics are: (1) the game takes a couple of plays to understand the trade phase/auction, which is key to the game; (2) I have improved my score and performance every game as a result of (1) and as a bonus play time has dropped to about thirty minutes at this point; (3) the game is a really nice mix of tableau building an deck building, and I look forward to playing it more (as I have not even tried all the scenarios in the box yet).

Another deck building game with varying theme based on an event deck. The game itself does not change that much. Similar to the 2nd generation of deck builders like Arctic Scavengers. If you like these kind of games, you might want to take a look. Otherwise, just move on (Played at Essen Spiel 2017)
