Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

The first two quests uses encounter sets from the base game, which is a nice throwback. And it's fun to use these again (and realize how easy they now are). I guess it might make the quest difficulty a dependent on the luck of the draw, since the new cards have "normal" difficulty. All the quest have a difficulty rating of 5, but those numbers feel low. Journey up the Anduin - 7 An ok enemy-centric quest. Good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Lost in Mirkwood - 7.5 Good quest with a few different "paths" to take. Quest advancement is done by clearing objectives instead of applying progress points, which is a nice change. Quest progress is instead used to find objectives. The quest felt like it was i bit more questing/location oriented. The Kings Quest - 7 First part is location heavy and the last part is a boss fight. Nothing unique, but still interesting. There are a few cards in the encounter deck that can really up the difficulty it they come out.

I do sort of wish the previous cycle had been the last - I guess FFG just can't let a cash-cow go. Will probably sty with it for this cycle but likely to be the last for me.
