Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

We tried this quest a couple of times, but without any chance of success. It's very hard - and perhaps even too hard for us, as we do not use the Saga expansions. Although it is possible that we would eventually find some decks that can deal with this quest, we suspected the journey would not be fun for us, including many attempts that would fail because of random combinations drawn from the Encounter deck that would end the game in one strike. So, we decided to move on to the next quest, in hopes that that would be enjoyable.

This quest is just brutally difficult. The community regularly rates it as the hardest (or at least top 3) in the entire game. The way it punishes you with Battle questing to start, and then just horrific amounts of shadow cards (plus 37/47 cards in the encounter deck have a shadow effect!) means you have to bring a power deck that is tuned specifically for this scenario. With recent Burning Brand errata, that meant that the only way I could beat it was by cheesing it with a Ranger Trap deck. Amarthiul and a few other cards in the pack really tie together the Dunedain archetype.

This scenario is very hard - one of the most difficult ones in the entire LotRCG universe. It took me many many tries to get a deck which was barely able to win 50% of the games.
