Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

PROS: The theming is *excellent*. Based heavily on the mechanics of Elder Sign, and about as complex as Omens of the Pharaoh or Omens of the Deep. 'X-Men: MI' adds just enough of the Arkham Horror LCG story flavor mechanics to make this a unique hybrid of all of the above and... mostly works. Pretty good solo mode plays similar to AH LCG, though of course X-Men themed. CONS: The continent decks (missions, ala the museum deck in Elder Sign) only have six cards in each pile, and only five piles so there's not much replayability there. And the villain and story stacks are similarly limited. The major CON though, is that the set-up and play-time feel too long and involved for what feels like it should be a faster/simpler game. And the real estate this takes up on the table is *hefty*. If you get the massive playmat, it still isn't large enough to contain the play area and your characters in any logical way. Ultimately, this is an aesthetically beautiful but "just alright" game that feels like it's one or two expansions away from being a really good game. Though, it doesn't seem like an expansion is on the way.

$20 CSI DoTD, can't ship multiple DotD together so after bunch of back and forth splitting $12 additional shipping between this and a few others, so call this one $26.

Rather play Marvel United X-Men but this isn't bad. Just need to sub in miniatures for the standees that come with this
