Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management

Surprisingly bland, overly simple, and way too long for what it is. Surprised at the positive buzz this game is getting. Replayability is very low—expect to have seen everything by game three.

I played World of Warcraft a zillion hours on line, so I had to purchase this new game looking back to all these YEARS, mostly in PvP... :) I am NOT a fan of the basic Pandemic game. I find it too long, a bit too dry and it drags on with 3-4 players. BUT since then I acquired [thing=192153][/thing] and that was a perfect [u]HIT[/u] I might say. The game was much shorter, a random die was introduced, the spreading was completely different and the theme was as good as any official FFG Lovecraft game with its well known investigators... My second purchase of a Pandemic game was a bit less, [thing=260428][/thing]. Since I am a wargamer I tend to play wargames for their historical background and information and Fall of Rome simply uses some historical tribes to create a Pandemic style game. So ... [thing=342848][/thing] is my 3rd Pandemic like game and after 3 games I think it falls between the Cthulhu game and Fall of Rome for me. It is a bit longer and the difficulty was certainly ramped up a bit. So much so that after 3 games I failed to win completely versus the evil of the Lich King. I played first with my preferred class the Paladin (Thirion Fordring - one of my all time Warcraft heroes) and Lady Jaina Proudmoore. After that I tried with King Varian and Bronzebeard... They too failed at the 3 preceding Quests in the necessary but random Raids .... Finally I took King Varian again with Lady Proudmoore (since I am a For the Alliance!!! player)... and this time we could finally enter the Icecrown Citadel and encounter the Lich King... But halfway through that final Raid, the threat was simply too huge and I lost again. All playing on normal, so I guess I am a really clumsy NOOB (as these youngsters shout out through their micro's in the on line game :) --------- I like the game. It is a bit too long (90-120 minutes) compared to the Cthulhu Pandemic game (60 minutes), but I fear it is addressed mostly at the WoW fans... 9/10... To be continued no doubt. :)

It's great to meet familiar heroes from beloved video game and relive an epic confrontation against the dreadfull Lich King. Just don't forget that WoW is just a niсe shell here and don't expect much from game mechanics, it's essentially a good old Pandemic with slight improvements.
