Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management

For WoW fans expecting a thematic experience the final "fight" or quest is a little anticlimactic and mechanical, for non-fans it doesn't need the WoW-theme. It's no bad game (the Pandemic system still has its raison d'être after all these years) but it feels a little superfluous.

Amazing game, we brought this game to the table with 6 players and it was loads of fun. We did see how the game feels unbalanced with 5 players but this is what made our game night amazing! We played with the house rule that the player 3 seats to the left of the active player receives 2 actions after the active player takes their 4 actions and it really reduced the lull in between turns as well as helped with the balancing. We are still needing to play test this more on the harder difficulties to gauge how this balances the game.

It could be at this point that I am just tired of the pandemic system, but this wasn't as exciting as i was anticipating going in. The theme works well, and the things it does differently than Pandemic are cool, but I don't think there is enough here for me to want to come back and play again. Yes there is variety on the setup, but i don't think it is enough variety to keep the game fresh. I still think Defenders of the Realm (although it has been many years since i played) did this "fantasy pandemic" better, and would actually prefer to just play that version over this.
