Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration.Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
This mechanic usually requires players to pick up an item or good at one location on the playing board and bring it to another location on the playing board. Initial placement of the item can be either predetermined or random. The delivery of the good usually gives the player money to do more actions with. In most cases, there is a game rule or another mechanic that determines where the item needs to go.
Pick-up and Deliver
In games with a trading mechanic, the players can exchange game items between each other.

Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.
Variable Player Powers
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

This game is a ok pickup and deliver game. There are things I really like about it like the theme and some of the card mechanics and wind mechanic. However, this game has a major issue with the end because of the end game condition players can end up having an extra turn punishing the person who has played more efficiently in what looks like a poorly thought out shoe-horned catch up mechanic. Also more of a minor issue but still an issue the first player never changes which means one person always has a slight advantage. The production isn't amazing but I'm sure the new KS will fix that.

A great game and even on the very first play through provided drama, excitement and a surprise ending. We thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to being able to play with more players.

A ton of fun, but has a few kinda glaring flaws that keep it from being a 10. The solo mode is lots of fun as well. I initially rated it an 8, but after I got over the rulebook, nomenclature, and playstyle issues (it strongly encourages players to not attack each other), I really enjoy this game. The theming and art is just my favorite style and feel. I love the concept. But I understand why other people would give it a lower rating. I'm excited for the expansion.
