This one definitely needs a couple plays to get used to because setup is the most important decision you'll make all game. It is nice that the factions have different focus, but other than that it feels like a blinged out game of hide & seek.

The clean rules, quick play time and start of the game are the game's strongest assets--and those keep the game from being rated lower. There are some nice moments when a player interrupts and goes for a kill, especially if that player reveals a hidden character. Once everyone is revealed, the game lacks surprises and loses much of its charm. Further, combat is unexciting and lacks punch. The hand management should bring an interesting wrinkle to the game, but it just feels a bit constraining in practice. The asymmetry of the factions is, at best, bland. Overall, Wildlands decidedly lacks the "wild" part.

Smooth, easy to learn, harder to master, tactical skirmish combat game with excellent components by Martin Wallace. No dice just cards. Eurostyle dudes on a map game with area control, deck management, hidden placement. The game ends when a player is eliminated. # Good 2 player with expansion. - Waiting time to allow players to interrupt each other - Referencing which mini is which and how much health it has left - Box is bigger than necessary, insert is nice but does not support any expansion Similar games: * Judge Dredd: Helter Skelter: same mechanics, different setting. * Memoir 44 * Unmatched: Battle of Legends (light 2 player miniature skirmish game, card-driven, different playstyles for each character)
