Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Rating based on 1 solo play with physical copy and one 4p game on Tabletopia. My new favourite deck-builder. Components can be of better quality, but this would increase the price of the game. The punch-outs can tear easily if not handled with care. 3D printable insert designed by Shem Phillips is on Thingiverse, but the cardholder may not fit sleeved cards (try out the remixed card holder also on Thingiverse). Can be fiddly on Tabletopia. My 4p game took 5 hours including teach on Tabletopia. I'd imagine that time would be sliced in half if played in person due to the large number of moving parts.

One of a kind euro. Rondel movement makes this one of a kind in its genre, with a superb solo design closely mimicking human opponents initially (unfortunately the AI does not know how to meaningfully deny plays)
ATX Bad Axes
Incredibly clever and I love what the game is trying to do. That said, the first play ran too long for my tastes. And some of the rules feel a little overwrought, bordering on fiddly. Ultimately, I'm intrigued, enjoyed my first game, and am conflicted about whether it will stay around. Not a solo player, but I may have to give that a shot.
