The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Achire
A rather unique but mechanically simple game. In village, you strive to build the most successful family, but time is working against you and you never have quite as much influence as you want. It is wonderfully thematic although occasionally bizarre in hilarious ways. Like for example, you can expand the family even if you don't have two family members, which inspired jokes around the table about how we're actually stealing babies dumped off at the steps of the church. Similarly, you can't help but wonder why the wagons keep on breaking... is your traveler racing them or something? There is slight disbalance that makes it hard for the travel strategy to win, but this issue is completely resolved by village port. Village Port also adds life goals, which are a perfect complement that makes the game yet more thematic and provides direction. I have also played village inn, which is very enjoyable and adds a new layer to the game. This is a game I will never play again without at least the village port expansion and I prefer to play it with both expansions are once, even with new players. The expansions bring this game up to a 10.

The idea of your meeples dying is surely unique, but didn't met my expectations overall. Played at 2P, and Travel action seemed very expensive, Market action very static and Mass had too little interest. Score track is unusually inconvenient and last but not least, this is NOT for colorblind people.
AFABBI
A well done action drafting game with a built in "mortality mechanic". In Village you try to ensure your family members die famous for the right things at the right time so that they are remembered in the village chronical and earn you points or that they end up in the right careers at the right time and love until the end of the game to also earn you points. The game is essentially about promoting your family in a village through different means and exploitation of resources and or time (time is a form of currency in the game and dries the mortality of your meeples). The more successful your family members are in certain careers while living, or remembered in death for what they contributed to the village, the better your score will be at the end of the game. Always worth a play in my mind.
