Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

Too much unnecessary upkeep and gimmick that is does add any focus to the central gameplay. Too many different type of scoring components too. Cascadia was a step in the correct direction from calico while verdant is a step back from cascadia. Just skip all their tile placement games and go cascadia instead

A more complicated version of [gameid=295947]. Fun but a bit too much. The added complexity, while not unwarranted, doesn't lead to a better decision space. In the end, you're still constrained both by the options available and the tableau you have constructed. Ultimately, the game is the winner and I'm just along for the ride.

KS, love the theme, might like a mat as our cat attacks the cards when we play, lol! Really cool publisher, designers! Like the ”house” of —neat & tidy
