Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

I was eager to try a intermediate drafting game between Calico (that I found a bit frustrating towards the end as some others did) and Cascadia (that I absolutely loved and played day after day when it was in the vicinity. After one 4p game of Verdant (I am not a particular fan of the theme so that did not help either), I thought that the game was too lucky (with the draw of the cards), quite long for what it is and even frustrating as it featured some turns when honestly none of the options presented to you were remotely interesting or working with your what you were trying to achieve. Some objective cards's wording seemed very dubious at best. Overall, I do not think it even as an intermediate game to Calico and Cascadia as I feel that Calico features a more streamlined decision-making machine with less choices per round , something that helps avoid the game grinding down.

I agree with a range of both positive and not-so-positive comments that other players have posted. Overall, I'm net positive on this game. It looks great on the table, I like the theme, the gameplay presents an absorbing puzzle, and the solo mode is very easy to manage. It does remind me of Cascadia which is a plus. On the less positive side, it is a bit fiddly, it's less streamlined than Cascadia, there are too many scoring options for my taste, and there are more small bits and pieces than I'd like. But, on balance, I enjoy playing, which is the ultimate test. It's still on my table and I'm looking forward to playing it a couple more times solo as a break from work.

Gorgeous, theme my friends and I adore. Fairly easy to pickup and learn but a bit heavier and more finicky than Cascadia
