Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.
Role Playing
Variable Phase Order implies that turns may not be played the same way as before and/or after.
Variable Phase Order

We love this game, it is always a hit when we play. There are three of us, so it goes a bit faster than a bigger game, though my 9 year old doesn't always work so fast. Most games come down to one turn either way, which I suppose is pretty good. We painted the mini's which was quite fun, one of our first paint jobs. Lots of fun.

It's exactly like how James mentioned in his initial video, a game that gives DnD feel in a single sit down session. Played several games, from 1 hero to 4 heroes, my group and I enjoyed it very much. Although there are quite some wording on the cards that confused us, we managed to find it here in bgg. Bear in mind that this is not a euro game, luck plays a huge part here, be it from throwing dice or drawing cards etc, but the game also gives the players ways to strategize around it, thereby mitigate the luck factor. It guarantees a delightful and humorous session if you take it lightly (on minions spawn or spells cast on you every turn ^.^) A word of advice, don't scout easily. So far it's been satisfying experiences for my group and I do see we play it more in the future. One nitpicking is I do wish there were more content in the box like map tiles, spells, treasures to increase the replayability.

Excellent production and artwork although the gameplay is lackluster. The game presents itself as a light game that can be played with anyone but the villain round takes way too long for a light game. Even at blazing speed with zero AP, maneuvering every minion takes time and the heroes constantly are under the impression that the villain is too powerful, which, even if not true, it's still very anti-climatic to the overall experience. The players playing the heroes simply never seemed to have fun, rather they just kept getting hammered by the villain and die multiple times. Kickstarter Deluxe Edition
