Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Some board games incorporate elements of role playing. It can be that players control a character that improves over time. It can also be a game that encourages or inspires storytelling.
Role Playing
In storytelling games, players are provided with conceptual, written, or pictorial stimuli which must be incorporated into a story of the players' creation.

After playing the first scenario, I see the potential for a lot of fun in campaign mode. The coin system for taking actions is great and I like that every character can do different things to different degrees.

Way too many things to keep track of, and no easy way of doing so. Lots of scenario book referencing, rulebook itself is pretty bad. The ghost movement is fuzzy with a 7 tier priority order. Art/theme are cool, and hoping this gets better with more familiarity. This one is probably best solo, with as much book referencing as there is. I would hate to sit down and watch someone look at a rulebook as much as I had to when I played the game. This game also needs to rework the scenario book, it's almost as confusing as the rulebook. After 9 plays I'm still not sure if I'm doing anything right.

Cooperative kinda dungeon crawler to the final boss fight. Unusual theme about songs and gaining humanity. + Well written narrative. # Luck: a lot of dice rolling. # Unusual comic-like artwork. # "Exploding" dice. # Campaign only, no standalone scenarios. - Only one player aid and rules is missing some clarifications. See also other well written narrative games: * Sleeping Gods * Unsettled * Tainted Grail
