Unmatched: Jurassic Park – Dr. Sattler vs. T. Rex
20m - 40m

Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

I'm a huge Unmatched fan and have all the sets but this one-sadly- is the most underwhelming. Dr. Satter: We all loved Dr. Sattler in the movies however narratively it doesn't really make sense how she's fighting. Is she like kicking and punching the T-Rex? Flavor-wise it just doesn't click for me. Also they did Dr. Grant dirty* by pairing Dr. Sattler up with Malcom (who also doesn't really pop here). I will say as fighters they are both easy to play and pretty powerful. They hold their own easily against the T-Rex, and I can see them winning against many fighters with their excellent healing ability. One unexpected plus with this team is that the color palette they used for the cards is really good. T-Rex: Was so excited for this and the mini does not disappoint, she's huge and menacing. Unfortunately the deck does not live up to the expectations set by the mini. I found the T-Rex to be underpowered and not especially fun to play. You just sort of trudge toward your opponent then get into a slap fight with them and hopefully they die shortly before you do. I definitely think T-Rex needed more crushing single cards; she doesn't even have a 6 in there! Thematically I would have liked to see her with something akin to "Gaze of Stone" that would just wreck foes. Also I think T-Rex could have used more area of attack cards given her huge size. It would have been interesting to split her into two sides: head and tail and have cards that attack differently depending on if the opposing fighter is being hit with the head or tail. Of course they would have changed it to use movement to rotate around but that would have added some strategic dimension. I rated his higher because it's still Unmatched and Unmatched rules, however I don't see either of these characters making it into random matches too often, and that's a shame, especially in the T-Rex's case. *I am aware they were making a separate Dr. Grant set, but I was saying in a general sense I'm surprised they didn't pair Dr. Grant with Dr. Sattler and make Malcom a stand-alone hero.

T-Rex is a lot of fun to play as, and requires an aggressive strategy because she burns through her deck pretty quickly. I like Dr. Sattler as a character, but feel that she's a bit over-powered in this game.

My first exposure to the unmatched series it got me hooked. Love this game. T Rex is fun and dr Sattler/Malcolm are good in their own right. Really enjoy mixing the fighters from different sets and seeing how they stack up against each other. Complete with Dr. Malcolm promo miniature
