Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Really prefer the original to this version. Love the inclusion of vehicles but the change in the elimination rules really make the game shorter (too short) and less fun/exciting.

And yet another 2 player game that Brian and I learned together. He beat me pretty bad on the introductory scenario. I had played Undaunted: Normandy previously and enjoyed it quite a bit. I think I like this one a little more. there are different unit cards for each side, which I like a lot. This makes the game much more asymmetrical than the first game. The die rolls are just so tense in this and every one had us on a knife edge. Having to remove your last card of a particular unit from your deck is jut a horrible experience to have happen to you, but quite satisfying when you do it to your opponent. My rating is based on looking at the remainder of the scenarios in the booklet. The addition of vehicles for each side with specialized units to drive and repair those vehicles sound fascinating and I can't wait to give this another go.

Enjoyable but a mixed bag overall. I like the systems and theme on the surface, but the scenarios are largely one-sided and the decision-making required is more simplistic than I'd like--there's usually one or two winning approaches to keep in mind and then you're playing out the rolls and draws.
