Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.
Card Drafting
Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

And yet another 2 player game that Brian and I learned together. He beat me pretty bad on the introductory scenario. I had played Undaunted: Normandy previously and enjoyed it quite a bit. I think I like this one a little more. there are different unit cards for each side, which I like a lot. This makes the game much more asymmetrical than the first game. The die rolls are just so tense in this and every one had us on a knife edge. Having to remove your last card of a particular unit from your deck is jut a horrible experience to have happen to you, but quite satisfying when you do it to your opponent. My rating is based on looking at the remainder of the scenarios in the booklet. The addition of vehicles for each side with specialized units to drive and repair those vehicles sound fascinating and I can't wait to give this another go.

This game scenarios are IMO broken. Myself and a friend with 60 odd years combined wargaming, computer gaming and deck building game experience have now played through all the scenarios and the Italians have failed to win a single time. We discussed the games and options, even looking at some strategy suggestions by others, to see if we doing something dumb. However, we had already figured out the obvious suggestions. We had a couple of close games but for that to even happen, everything had to go right with great dice rolls and card draws for the Italians and the Italians still lost. Were the scenarios seriously playtested at all? The game mechanics are fine, games looks great and should be fun but unfortunately it's one of the most disappointing games I've ever purchased. I finally went f**k this game and stopped. Update - woohoo. Gave 1 more go (scenario 7, I think) and actually won as Italians. However, as highlighted above, I had to have a perfect draw and die rolling to pull it off (which was in inside 1 reshuffle). Italian gameplay is one dimensional to win it seems and thats just not fun. Now put away probably never to be brought out again but I won once! Shame as it's a game that doesn't have the usual Germans v American/Russians staple.

This is a fantastic series of games. Easy to learn, and can build quickly on your decision making skills. Lots of fun. The game has the ability to swing. A dominating player can be clawed back
