Very enjoyable, but not necessarily balanced or endlessly replayable. Still very satisfying, but once the dominant strategies have been solved, the game tapers out, and lacks the thematic appeal to keep me playing. Otherwise a very elegant game which offers a lot of player agency and good components; it's the most tense and directly competitive deckbuilder I've played, and the abstracted narrative makes it very satisfying - building an army is building an engine, and the unpredictability of war manifests through the randomness of the deckbuilding experience in a narratively cohesive manner. Too bad it's D&D-themed and essentially abandoned by the publisher. Otherwise, this would rate higher.

Excellent game, one of the best deck-builder hybrids out there. The area control is elegant and deterministic, and is a viable strategy to focus on rather than a distraction. It also has a side effect of making the deck-building less frustrating as you rarely have a 'wasted' hand, leftover military points can always be used to place a few units on the board. A pleasant surprise hit for me, and breathes life into a played-out genre. Just be sure to play in bright light, as the art is an unrelenting assault of dark purples.

A very nice mix of area control and deck-building. The theme is fun, but could have been anything else. I'd have preferred a more expressive map, but what's e there is fine. The speed of play and the interactivity is where this game shines.
