This game does everything right. Hard to understand why it isn't more popular. I played it around 4/5 times. Played at 2p and 4p. I liked it at both player counts. What puts me off on this game is that it is yet another "trading on islands" resource management game. Mechanics are familiar, well balanced but yeah... gives you that sense of "been there, done that". I wish it had another theme and I would probably keep it. But I have Bora-Bora, Marco Polo, Concordia and Tungaru has similarities with all of these while not being better than any of them. It is a very good game by a fantastic designer team. Glad I played it.

Same designers as Rococo, a bit less complexity, but I think I like it even more. There is a TON of interaction in this game, from the limited action spaces, to the nomads being moved around. I also really like the way you recruit nomads for both in-game power and end-game scoring. Tough choices in a simple and relatively short game.

So it works, in so much as I get what it wants me to do, but for all my pulling of handles and using mechanisms it generates nothing. No fun, no tension, no satisfaction. No joy as things are unlocked. No intrigue as to how my engine might grow. No fun. None. Which makes it a complete failure as a game.
