Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Just judging by art I wasn't sure whether I'd like this game, but I ended up really enjoying it. Played for the first time at Dice Tower Con 2019.

5 plays / 3,4 players LIKE: The interaction of buying and manipulation of the dice is intricate and satisfying. Players can plan to use dice for a big move, or to protect their meeple from being pushed out. The push and pull of the dice resources is a bit conflicting, but not terrible, since players can buy other player's dice. I also enjoyed the secret, yet shared, end game goals, because it's fun to try to guess what each player has. DISLIKE: High price tag, not much physical content in the box. The dice can be random and work against players. Lots of little rules for each of the events, but not a hinderance. OVERALL: Very good game because of the interactivity. The game can have a very slight meanness to it, but this is very minor and keeps the game interesting.

Brainburner: the Game. Too many things are happening each turn. I'm sure this game has longevity and replayability, but the bar to get into it is set very high.
