Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

Agataka
I was excited to try this one out, as I'm a big fan of roll & write games. But I found the game a bit bland and too abstract. There are many other roll & writes on the market that I'd rather play.
Baron Frog
Not an ideal first game - played with three people who had never played Troyes, using a French set whilst reading the English rules on a mobile phone! I really enjoyed it, but the others not so much. I'd like to give this another try to see whether that impression holds up, and whether the game plays as quickly as it says on the box.
charleaux
One of the newest "roll-and-write" version of a popular game where players draft dice to achieve the most points. The game really didn't really feel like Troyes so those looking for the high interaction of the base game will sorely disappointed by the multiplayer solitaire aspect of this game. Not a bad game but not very interesting, especially with plenty of better roll-and-writes available.
