Backed...approximately $47 for this and the base game (that was a $10 bump for an entirely new 2nd edition game rather than paying for the sub par upgrade kit fee.) 1) This expansion basically is a patch to soften some rough edges of the base game...in ANOTHER box...it totally defeats the 'Tiny Epic' gimmick in my opinion. 2) Looking past the lots-in-a-box 'micro' game draw, next time I'll better compare these TE series more equitably with other sub-$50-games. 3) Simultaneously offering a basic version with a deluxe version game feels more like a marketing trick then it does a value choice. 4) This company makes an amazingly quality product. The people behind this game seem like great people. Game play + Pros + Cons = I've concluded that future "Tiny Epic" games will be wait-and-see for me.

Adds a little complexity and much more replayability/variation but not really much more fun in my opinion. It keeps things fresh though, and the introduction of a solo mode, though not a great one, is welcome.

*Edit--the recent Kickstarter for Defenders really soured me on these games. They are removed from my collection. All the games were opened, tossed into a pile, and thrown into the trash. I refuse to support them by giving the game to anyone else. They designed the game without a fix for the current loyal first time buyers? It sounds selfish but I take loyalty seriously. I have no desire to play anything from this company again.
