Card drafting games are games in which players pick cards from a limited subset, such as a common pool, to gain some advantage (immediate or longterm) or to assemble hands of cards that are used to meet objectives within the game.

Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.

The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.

Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.
Variable Player Powers
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Exactly the right game for me. Since you only have 12 actions, getting to certain achievements feel heroic, like maxing a stat, becoming a 10-point champion, beating certain challenges or solo-killing a monster. There is plenty of luck involved as well, which makes the game more playable with more people. Some people may not like the downtime between turns, but I found it enjoyable to watch my rival's plan unfold with die roll and even help them out a bit. It's really complex, but light at the same time. One of my favorites up there with Spirit Island. Also gorgeous.

beautiful game and potentially interesting, but it's ruined by its central dice chucking mechanic, which has very little meaningful mitigation.

First gameplay was a bit complex mostly because of misreading some rules but also poor rulebook and not all important stuff was included in player AID, though the game itself seems otherwise clear. It still might have potential to get on the table, but I feel I have mixed opinions of dice rolling mechanics and I'm not sure does this be interesting for long term. Too much stuff, too long and too few things happens.
