Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.

I like Marco Polo because it is quick; I like it because there are several routes to victory; but mainly I like it because of the variable player (character) powers. These are not powers that massage the starting resources a little, or give each player a small edge in one of the actions. These are game breaking powers that drastically change the way you approach the game. Interaction is limited but you can't ignore it totally

I always liked the game, but now i had some really negative experiences. The player who concentrate exclusively on the orders and only took 2-3 travel steps, won the game with a big lead. The others traveled more and had no chance of winning. The theme of the game is about a journey ... and the person who doesn't travel wins because of completed orders. Sorry, but the result misses the point of the game. Felt very frustrating.

Very good eurogame combined with resource-collecting and area movement. The game feels quick, it has only 5 rounds, so you have to think about each action. It uses dice for worker placement, which I really enjoy. The best about the game is the unique player powers, which make really a difference! The game set-up is also very random which makes each game different. Player: 2-4 (best: 3-4) | Time: 40-100m Similar games: * Lorenzo il Magnifico
