Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Variable Player Powers is a mechanic that grants different abilities and/or paths to victory to the players.

Even better than the original! This game is a stand alone, similar to the original but with some fun new mechanics.

I own all 3 series games and by far this is my favorite. I am amazed how each game feature utilizes stand alone game mechanics in such different ways. The modular board is a huge win as every game is different. Another reviewer mentioned it was hard to flip over, the board pieces only flip once so it’s really a non-issue. The best game mechanic I enjoyed was deploying automated guns/shields that shot the endless bugs trying to attack your shuttle. It honestly took me back to Red Alert Command & Conquer days. This game is a lot less system intensive so if you are new, I suggest this as it’s easier to get a hold of. The rules can be difficult and a good video review would save you frustration as conceptually it can be difficult to understand small details that realistically are minor parts of the game. I would recommend you pickup a copy and get playing to defend yourself from the endless hoards of bugs while trying to get all the relics! Get gaming!

Very different from the other two games. It feels quite a bit like Aliens. By constructing the tunnels in different ways the difficulty of the game is adjustable, that is a very good improvement from the other two games, but at the same time the rulebook does not give you enough information about it so you need to experience for yourself how to build the tunnels adequately. Overall we enjoyed so far the best of the three. BREMEN
