Pattern Building is a system where players place game components in specific patterns in order to gain specific or variable game results. For example: placing chips on 2, 4, 6, 8 on a board gets the player an action card they can use later in the game.
Pattern Building
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

The designer recently brought it to a group I game with to try it out. It was a fun set collection, I cut you pick style of game. It had interesting decisions and fun gameplay. He explained to us some ideas he’s thinking to expand it also.

Building a 3-D sword is super cool, but there is just no game here. I cannot strategize or plan ahead in this game. I don't enjoy scoring at the end either.

Its a novel concept building a 3d sword out of tiles and there are mechanics that matter for ultimately scoring but the game is so light in content and the novelty wears off fast. I think younger players would get a kick out of it.
