Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Games that use the Memory mechanic require players to recall previous game events or information in order to reach an objective.
Memory
Play occurs upon a modular board that is composed of multiple pieces, often tiles or cards. In many games, board placement is randomized, leading to different possibilities for strategy and exploration. Some games in this category have multiple boards which are not used simultaneously, preserving table space. Unused boards remain out of play until they are required.
Modular Board
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

AFABBI
Ameritrash at its best. You are a tribe of meeples on Atlantis that is in the process of sinking into the ocean. You want to get on boats and or swim, (swimming is a last resort believe me) off the doomed island and to shore of another continent. Certain of your meeples are worth more points than others but you won't know if you don't remember after placement, and they will be competing with other meeple tribes for the scarce boats. On your turn you take another piece of the island away, which usually involves making someone's meeple/s take a bath, and trigger or hold onto a special power. Then you move your meeples and boats and roll a die. This leads to you moving whales that destroy boats, Sharks that eat meeples in the ocean, and monsters that destroy boats and eat meeples. So, the game isn't a coop is what I am saying. As long as everyone is a good sport, than this game plays like a wonderful scramble for safety where a lot of take that and mayhem occurs. Beware playing with happy cooperative people, it breaks the game.

Easy to explain, fun to play. Has plenty of decision making and LOTS of screw-your-neighbor. Looks nice too. Bumped it up to an 8 after a good time playing with the kids. This'll get more plays.
