Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
Player elimination occurs in multiple-player games (>2) when a player can be eliminated from the game and play continues without the eliminated player.
Player Elimination
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

Tile Placement games feature placing a piece to score VPs, with the amount often based on adjacent pieces or pieces in the same group/cluster, and keying off non-spatial properties like color, "feature completion", cluster size etc.

ArcOfTheBrotherment
I have played this game solo, cooperative, and competitive. Thematically this game is very cutthroat when competitive. Normally you are not trying to murder other mountaineers on the mountain. The other issue this game has is elimination. Solo this is not much of a problem. But in the other two options this could cause one to be sidelined for an hour waiting for the game to end. This game is a little complicated to teach for the return you get back in playability. I suggest a co-op game before competitive so others can learn the strategy in a less aggressive game. The Yeti does make solo and co-op more fun. But not the competitive version. The concept is cool. The game is fun overall. There are a couple things I would change, But I will continue to play this game. I like the theme and most of the mechanisms. After my first play through I gave it a 6.5 and have since updated my rating.

Pure random, very tough events (affecting players randomly), no decision making, way too long. Moreover, cubes don't fit in player mats. Very big disappointment!

Totally random pile of crap. Includes such wonders like missing a turn and player elimination. Never playing again. Would rather play snakes and ladders.
