Stroganov (Kickstarter – Deluxe Edition)
90m - 90m
1 - 4 Players
Ages 12+
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Had a privilege to play prototype. Very neat Euro. I liked the different mechanics and sandbox typish path to victory. There is no single road. Now coupled with stunning art a must in my collection. Seems like Eurogame I could play more often than once a year

Wow I'm quite impressed with this game! Strikes a nice balance between having a lot of options, especially with all the extra ancillary actions available, but the general gist of your main actions is fairly straightforward. Art is great, theme is something different and fits the mechanisms well. I know this game had a lot of trouble over the production for kickstarter backers, but I have little qualms with my retail copy. Not sure if it pertained to the deluxe version, or I got a later printing with some stuff improved but it's fine for me. Needs more plays to see if it holds up but this is feeling like a bullseye for me, this should be a fairly prominent game in the collection going forward.

Rated 6.5/10 after my 1st play, but I had to rescind that rating after learning we had screwed up a significant rule. For step (3) of each turn, instead of "As the active player you may now perform one main action for free, and you may perform a second main action for the fur cost" (copied from rulebook), we did not allow any free main action, and instead only allowed one main action for the fur cost. I suspect this substantially changed how the game would have played out, particularly with respect to claiming Landscape Tiles. I will re-rate this game when/if I play it with the correct ruleset.
