Dice rolling in a game can be used for many things, randomness being the most obvious. Dice can also be used as counters. The dice themselves can be unique and different sizes, shapes and colors to represent different things.
Dice Rolling
The primary goal of a set collection mechanic is to encourage a player to collect a set of items.
Set Collection
In games with a trading mechanic, the players can exchange game items between each other.
Trading
This mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually(*) a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Actions are commonly selected by the placement of game pieces or tokens on the selected actions. Each player usually has a limited number of pieces with which to participate in the process.

Stone Age is not a game I would ever have thought needed an expansion, so while 'Style Is the Goal' was only available for me to import I had no interest in it. That said, now that it's out again without the stupid name, I picked up a copy and it comes with lots of cool bits like a small board to cover up and 'expand' the original, and some ornament pieces. As for mechanics, the conversion of different resources is a pretty big addition. And there are new huts which use the new 'tusks' commodity. And player 5. Again, this was already a fantastic game but I'm not above having more ways to play, more options, and this does just that.

This expansion is a great addition for the base game. It adds a fifth player (and while I don't know if I really want to play Stone Age with 5, some friends will rejoice for being able to play black!). It also adds another pathway (the trading track) that seems balanced with the others. There's a new resource (the decorations) that works slightly differently from the others. There's a bunch of new cards (with a fifth spot for them) and buildings (including those that came with "The New Huts" expansion), and many of them "interact" with the new resource. To summarize: the game gets better with this expansion, I won't ever play Stone Age without Style is the Goal!

We tried to get into this and the game was still good but with two players the trade goods didn't seem to work for us. Maybe we didn't do it right? We hardly ever use these expansion rules.
