I've played a few games and I like it. I am kind of surprised people say it overstays its welcome, the game played fairly fast for us (2 hours for 4 players avg) as you don't have a whole lot of options, order and use of your limited resources is what really matters. If you enjoy the mental showdown of secret betting against your opponent its pretty good. Overall I would recommend you add this to a rotation of games like Kemet, DEI, Bloodrage. All of them feel similarish in terms of the area control but different enough you will enjoy the variety.

Most of the quick reviews on BGG only play a few games but this game has depth. There are 8 different scenarios with the base game and 6 more with the expansions for a total of 14. A couple of games played only gets a general feel. It's a great game with many different strategies in the scenarios. For those wondering about the complaints regarding difficulty in catch-up after a slow start - if you're worried about that play Miracle algae scenario from the base game. It's much easier to recover and catch up in that one.

The game fell flat pretty quickly. The mechanics work together fine, but thats it. The combat is like Scythe but worse, the Order placement is like Forbidden Stars/GoT2nd but worse and the scoring/power ramping is tedious at best (especially if you do not go for the Steam placement action). It is possible to have player elimination really early in the game and there is a feeling of "Rich gets Richer" since the player with the most steam is also the player who can have the most unit on the board. At least the game is quick and easy to learn.
