Space Station Phoenix is a worker-placement and resource management game set in one of Earth’s possible futures. The players are representatives of the Galactic Council, sent to Earth to build space stations to observe and perhaps interact with humanity.
Players begin the game with nine ships and a station hub. These ships act as action spaces that players use to gather resources, explore the nearby planets, and build their stations. Turns are fast and straightforward; either take ship action or take income.
Many games start players off with a small resource engine which they build up to a bigger one. In Space Station Phoenix, players start with the best production engine they will ever have and proceed to break it down part by part. As the game progresses, their actions get more efficient, but the number of ways to take those actions starts to diminish.
Space Station Phoenix also features deep re-playability with millions of possible starting positions and station parts combinations.

Played 'face to face' and on BGA. In short - it was OK and nothing more. Decent theme behind it all Game flows quite smoothly overall Artwork is fine, but not top notch...just a bit flat somehow. We quite enjoyed it as a group, but found it lacked significant variation - both in terms of rounds within a single game and each separate game... Just very 'samey' and didn't grab any of our group hugely. We won't be playing it again.

Five games in and enjoyed every single play of it. Rules are pretty straightforward, easy to teach and interesting choices to make. Works well for 2 and 3 (haven't tried with 4), Ton of variety with all the different modules and space station sections.

This was the hit of GenCon for me and totally has me surprised. It was chance that I ended up in the RioGrande rooms to play and just happened upon two folks looking for a 3rd player. it looks super complicated but really it's not so much - the iconography does take a while and it can be super small but wow did we have a ton of fun! This was a thinky space game where the theme does come through somewhat - and the end game scoring was awesome. Combo's abound. I immediately bought it online and it is waiting for me at home.
