Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

Okay game, but there is so much card text reading, it slows the turns down. It would probably go faster with many repeated plays once you know the cards, but we don't WANT to play it enough to get to that point, so it sits on the shelf. Edit: We tried it one more time. It was terrible. We hated every minute of it. So much text on the cards in hand and what's played on the table. We constantly forgot to do actions on cards that are on the table because there is just so much, and it would make the game take so much longer to re-review the text on every card, every turn. Rating dropped from a 6 to a 4.

Jacob and I picked this up in Mississauga in approximately 2021. This is a household favourite and also popular with my hometown gaming group. This game has been played a lot. Fully sleeved as of January 2024.

I’m not rating this expansion because I don’t own it, but I own everything prior. I agree with the previous posts, Smash Up’s appeal was parody. This expansion has CASH GRAB written all over it. If sh*t has a Marvel logo, suckers will come. At this point, after an even Bigger Box to contain all the expansions, perhaps it’s time to give SmashUp a conclusion.
