Hand management games are games with cards in them that reward players for playing the cards in certain sequences or groups. The optimal sequence/grouping may vary, depending on board position, cards held and cards played by opponents. Managing your hand means gaining the most value out of available cards under given circumstances. Cards often have multiple uses in the game, further obfuscating an "optimal" sequence.
Hand Management
Maneuvers that directly attack an opposing player's strength, level, life points or do something else to impede their progress.

When played quickly it is decent fun, with slow players this turns into a slogfest since there isn't too much forward planning involved, and things change between turns. There are still nice combos you'll get to execute during the game, and it feels nice to able to execute your plan, of course some deck combinations work better than others and the experience may vary between different plays. 3p is the optima number of players.

Great new title for the Smash Up line! I think the Marvel universe fits in perfectly with the mechanics of this game and I think this is a great partnership between The Op and AEG! If you are a fan of Marvel or Smash Up then this would be a no-brainer.

Just like in the original Smash Up!: each player combines two decks and then battle each other. The underlying game is pretty straight-forward tug-of-war with some take that. The most annoying part is how much table space it hogs and the need to read tiny text on other players' cards across the table. And you need to read it a lot, because the game state changes so much between your turns. The Marvel theme does nothing for me. (14.11.2023)
